Hi! I’m Winnie! I am a two-year-old Golden with a lot of energy, a big heart, and a very serious dedication to the game of fetch. The good people here at Homeward Bound have seen what I am capable of, and they think it is time I found my family. I am inclined to agree.

Here is what I bring to the table: I know sit, down, and shake—nice to meet you, by the way. I am extremely food-motivated, which makes me a genuinely fun dog to train when someone takes the time. I love fetch above all else, and I know drop it on command, which I consider a real skill. I am a happy, playful girl one-on-one, and the people who have spent time with me say I show them my best self when it is just the two of us.

I introduced myself to several dogs here and had a great time with most of them. I am still learning to read signals perfectly, but I am picking that up quickly! I am friendly with dogs on leash and at the fence. Cats are still a bit of a mystery to me. Kids 8 and older are a great match — I can be jumpy and mouthy when I am excited, so sturdy kids who can handle some enthusiasm are my speed.

My home life was kind of sheltered, so public outings are still a work in progress for me. New environments can make me nervous, and I may need a minute to find my footing when something unexpected catches me off guard. A harness helps, and having a calm dog buddy beside me makes a real difference. Put me in the backyard with a ball and someone who is all mine, though, and I am a completely different dog – happy, focused, and absolutely in my element. The right family will be patient enough to help me get fully comfortable in the world, too.

I am looking for an active people with time for daily adventure, a yard to run in, and patience for a girl who is still figuring some things out. Throw the ball. Work on my leash skills with me. I will show up for you every single day. What do you say?
