Hello, good people. I’m Oso. At five years old, I ended up in a shelter through what I can only describe as an unauthorized walkabout. I’m a Golden boy with a little guardian breed thrown in for good measure, and when we get bored, we like to roam. It wasn’t my finest hour, but here’s the thing about being five: I know exactly who I am, and I think you’re going to like me.
I am an affectionate, calm, and genuinely easy boy to be around. I love my people. Like, really love them. I will lean in for pets, make eye contact, and follow you around just to be near you. Then, when I’ve soaked up enough love, I’m perfectly happy to go shake a squeaky toy around by myself for a while. I’m good like that. Five years old means I come to you already knowing the good stuff: sit, sit-stay, come, doggy door, and how to walk beside you like a gentleman. No assembly required. Take me to the park, bring me along while you do yard work, or sit with me at a picnic table for lunch. I am excellent company.
I have earned a bit of a reputation in our dog playgroup. I am actually one of the tester dogs, which means I am trusted to help set the tone and welcome nervous newcomers to the yard. I know how to read a room, I know how to play gently with the dainty dogs, and just as importantly, I know when to walk away when things get too rowdy. I have good social instincts, and I use them.
As for kids, their unpredictability isn’t my thing, so I really shine in an adults-only home. And cats? I have some strong opinions about birds, so let’s just say cats are probably not my best idea. One more thing: I do love a yard, but I’m an adventurer at heart, so it needs to be good and secure. When you’re with me, I have no interest in going anywhere. It’s only when I’m left to my own devices that my wandering spirit takes over!
If you’ve been looking for a loyal, mannerly companion with a social soul and a gentle heart, I might be exactly who you’re looking for. Just ask for Oso. I’m ready for the good life.
