Hi. My name is Mya. I am a pretty one-and-a-half year old girl Labrador Retriever. If you know anything about our breed, you know that we are loving, loyal, and make great companions and family dogs. I am a little shy at first, but otherwise true to my breed. Once I feel comfortable, I will be always by your side and happily sit for pets returning my appreciation with adoring eyes! I lived in a home and have excellent house manners which have been on full display at my foster’s home. I walk well on leash, and I exhibit exemplary etiquette when out and about at dog-friendly places. For the most part, I like other dogs but I’m not the kind of dog that enjoys ruff-housing. I prefer your company or the company of an older, easy-going dog companion. Full disclosure: I have a not-severe case of hip dysplasia. It doesn’t require surgery, but it does mean that I won’t be running marathons or hiking mountains with you. I can play some ball and I run around the yard with zoomies just like any other young dog – and when things feel ouchy, I will self-regulate and take a break. For this reason, I need people that won’t try to drive me too hard or jump on me! We think that older kids will understand that and would be best for me. I do take some medicine to keep everything moving smoothly which Homeward Bound will provide, so don’t worry about that! And if you have a pool…bonus! Swim therapy is the best for me! My foster mom says that I am an incredibly loving dog and someone will be very lucky to adopt me. I’m hoping that’s you!
