Shadow

Shadow lost his people through no fault of his own, and this big, sweet boy is ready to pour all that love into someone new. Gentle, affectionate, and already knowing his basics, he needs a patient, active home willing to give him the fresh start he has more than earned.

  • Gentle, six-year-old, giant with a soft heart and a little well-earned sass
  • Friendly and affectionate with people; loves being outside, loves being brushed
  • Has some basic training; may need a refresher with his new people
  • Good with most dogs; Cats Unknown; Kids 7+ (big boy…needs sturdy kids)
  • Needs an active home with patient, loving people who will give him the fresh start he deserves

Hi. I’m Shadow, and I’ll be honest with you right from the start: I’ve had a rough go of it lately, and finding myself here has been a lot to process for a big, sensitive guy like me. But the good people at Homeward Bound have been taking good care of me, and I am absolutely ready for whatever comes next.

I am a gentle giant, through and through. I love people more than just about anything, and when you scratch me just right, I will offer you my belly and my whole heart along with it. I love being outside, I love a good brushing, and I know a thing or two about manners. Sit, down, sit-stay, shake. I’ve got the basics covered; I might need a little patience while I remember them with someone new. I will say: I know what I like and what I don’t, and I am not afraid to let you know. Some call it stubborn. I call it having opinions. At 86 pounds, I do have some gravity on my side when I feel strongly about something, so steady, stirdy, confident people will bring out my best.

Other dogs are fine by me. I am calm and easygoing on leash, and while I’m not much of a rough-and-tumble player, I am perfectly happy to share space with polite company. Kids who are old enough to understand a big dog are more than welcome.

I am a good boy who was handed a hard situation. What I need now is someone who will meet me with the same steadfast love I am ready to give back. An active home, daily walks, a warm spot to settle in at the end of the day, and people who are in it for the long haul. If that sounds like you, I think we should talk. I’ve got a lot of love left to give.
