Shae
Shae was lucky to escape a life of puppy-making, but the world beyond is new and a little scary. She has a heart of gold and will gladly share it once a bond of trust is built through patience, TLC, and love.

Hi. My name is Shae. Shy Shae. I am almost two years old and came from one of those places where all the dogs do is make babies. I guess I wasn’t very good at that so, lucky for me, I made it to Homeward Bound. If you don’t know, it’s not the best life for a dog. We don’t have a lot of human interaction and definitely no affection. We might have the company of other dogs, but we have no experience at all in the world outside. So, when we’re lucky enough to leave – it’s downright terrifying! That’s why Homeward Bound sent me to foster where I have the companionship of dog siblings who help with my confidence, and patient people who let me take things at my own pace. It has helped a lot…and while there is still more work to do, everyone agrees it would be best to complete my journey in my forever home. I am a sweet girl – but scared. I need patient people who are experienced with shy dogs and will keep me safe, and, hopefully, a calm teacher dog to help guide me. I have learned house manners with just a few relapses; I’m getting more comfortable in a crate; and I’m working on sharing my toys – but that is still a work in progress and does require your diligence. Homeward Bound will show you how I trade for treats. For this reason, I need a dog friend that doesn’t care to take my toys, and if there are kids, they should be older and committed to the program. I’m learning some basic commands and how to walk on leash. All of this is so new to me. If I sound like a lot of work, well – I am in some ways – but very easy in others. But mostly, I am a sweet, deserving girl who will soak up your attention and affection once we have established a bond of trust. Don’t adopt me for my pretty face or because you feel sorry for me. Adopt me because you believe in my potential and know that I deserve so much more than the life I was born into.
