Hi. My name is Stanley. I am what they call a special needs dog – but mostly, I’m just special. Someone dumped me to fend for myself. Maybe it was because I had a ruptured globe and blindness in one eye – or maybe it was because I had occasional seizures. I don’t know if I was born this way, or if something happened. I wish I could remember so I could tell you. But the point is that this is me, now. Besides these little imperfections, I have some great things going for me. I am two years old and an active boy who loves his walks and needs a good amount of daily exercise and play. I can also be a precious pup seeking your attention, pets, and tummy rubs! I absolutely LOVE my toys and when you are too busy with all your human stuff to play with me, I will happily throw them around and play by myself. Because I don’t see well, I need guidance getting in and out of the car, but I love to accompany you on outings. Check out my shopping manners in the video below! I am pretty good with training and the boundaries you set, but I confess that my brain has been a little bit rattled by the seizures, so I need patience and repetition. About other dogs: Because my eyesight is not good, I have a hard time reading dog body language. It’s just best if I don’t live with one, but I am fine on walks and outings. I largely ignore cats, and I think that older kids who understand a dog like me would be great. Homeward Bound has been able to get the seizures under control with medication and a special food. They will ensure that I have both for the rest of my life if you live within 50 miles. They can also tell you what to expect if you are not familiar with dogs like me. Mostly what you should expect is to be loved back as much as you love me.
