Hi there! I’m Summer, and I’ll be honest with you. I’m seven years old and a little confused about how I ended up here. I lost my home through no fault of my own, and while it’s been an adjustment, I haven’t let it dampen my spirits one bit. The good people at Homeward Bound have been wonderful, and I’m ready to channel all this love I’ve been saving into a home of my very own.

Here’s what you should know about me: I am deeply, enthusiastically, devoted to people. When there’s a group of you, I will personally make my rounds and check in with every single one. No one gets left out on my watch. I know my basic commands (my “Down” comes with a particularly dramatic full-body FLOP that I’ve been told is very endearing), and I love to fetch. Balls, stuffed toys, I’m not picky. When the playing is done, I’ll flip onto my back and make my belly rub request very clear. I’m a Golden who knows her worth!

I came in with my sister, and while I’ll miss her, I do just fine on my own. I’m friendly with other dogs, a happy tail wag and a general “let’s be friends” attitude is my default. As for cats and very small critters, I have to be honest: I find them extremely interesting in a way that probably wouldn’t be great for them. Let’s say ‘no’ to cats, but if you have rodents you want disappeared…I’m your girl! Kids, though? I think they’d be wonderful.

My one project area is leash manners. When I spot something exciting, I like to take the wheel. But here’s the thing: I’m food motivated, eager to please, and I’ve already shown that with a harness and consistent cues, I make real progress. I just need someone patient enough to stick with me. In return, I’ll bring you seven years of hard-won sweetness, good house manners, calm energy, and a belly rub request that will never, ever get old. So do you think that someone might be you?
