Philip

A happy, people-loving guy who put a ruff start behind him, Philip is ready for his second chapter. Fearful of other dogs but a total sweetheart with humans, he will thrive as the one and only in a semi-active home with older kids and people in search of a devoted companion.

  • Abandoned, three-year-old Philip arrived carrying a colony of ticks and in need of care; he recovered well and is ready for home
  • People-loving with great energy but not over-the-top; needs daily exercise
  • At foster he has proven his great home manners; crate trained; housebroken; can be left alone; loves being by your side
  • No formal training but eager to learn; moderate puller on leash but working on it
  • Fearful of other dogs; Needs to be only dog in home; Cats Unknown; Kids 13+ who will help with training OK

Hi everyone! I’m Philip, a three-year-old golden guy with a pretty good comeback story. I was on my own for a while, and I showed up at Homeward Bound with more ticks and fleas than any dog should have to count. The good people here treated me, I’m all cured, and I’ve never felt better. That’s safely in the rear view mirror now!

I am a people dog through and through. I’ll greet you with a happy tail wag and lean in for all the loves. I have plenty of energy, but I’m not over-the-top about it, so give me a couple of good walks a day and I’m a happy boy. I am hanging out with my foster where I have demonstrated my excellent house skills! I am crate trained, housebroken, can be left alone, and want nothing more than to be by your side.

Life on the streets was hard, and other dogs make me nervous. As long as we keep a respectful distance, I can mind my manners when we are out walking. I’m happiest as your one and only, so I’m looking for a home with no canine siblings. I’m a little cautious around cats, though the folks here think I might be OK with them. I’m still figuring them out! Older kids sound like fun to me. Ages 13 and up who want to help me with my training would make great teammates.

I’m looking for a semi-active home with people who appreciate a devoted companion. I’ll bring the tail wags and the thank-you’s. Is that you?
