Hi there, I’m Liberty, but my foster calls me Libby. My life didn’t start out easily. I came from a puppy mill/backyard breeding situation, and this whole new world feels like a lot to take in. I’ve been in a wonderful foster home learning, at my own pace, what it means to just be a dog.

I’m one and a half years old and I’ve got that classic young Golden energy. I need exercise, enrichment, and things to do with my brain, not just my legs. I’m working on my house manners and getting better every week. I like knowing my crate is there but prefer to have the crate door left open. I’ve even started sleeping through most of the night! I recently discovered a kiddie pool and I am obsessed…the big pool, though? No thank you. I’m also getting the hang of leash walks…venturing a little farther every time.

I’ve got a foster brother named Gunnar and I adore him…we play together all the time! I’ll admit, meeting brand new dogs can make me nervous at first, so it can take me a moment to warm up. I’ve been told it comes from a fearful place, and any drama melts away once I feel safe. That’s why I’m hoping for a patient, mature dog in my next home, someone steady who can show this young girl the ropes while I finish growing up. Cats are probably not my thing since I love chasing critters. And because the world is still a lot for me sometimes, I’d do best with older kids, 16 and up who understand the heart of a shy dog.

I’ll be honest, I do still find the world a bit overwhelming, so I’m looking for the right people who are excited to invest in me: training, patience, and time to help me become the best version of myself. I’ve already shown how much I can grow, and I’ve got so much more in me. If you’re the calm, dedicated home I’ve been waiting for, I’m ready to keep learning with you by my side.
