Hi, I’m Lani, a three-year-old girl who came to Homeward Bound as a stray from the Central Valley. For some reason, it happens a lot there. I arrived scared and unsure, but Homeward Bound matched me to my foster where I met my foster siblings, and I’ve been peeking out of my shell ever since.
Here’s the real me, or at least the part I’m brave enough to show so far. I want so badly to do right by you, and a tasty treat helps me think extra hard. I’m learning to walk politely on leash and I’m picking up simple commands bit by bit. I collect toys like they’re going out of style, and chasing after a bouncing ball makes my whole day. I may borrow a toy that technically belongs to someone else, but my dog roommates are teaching me the house rules. I’m a solid gal with all four paws on the ground, though sudden noises still make me jump. I’m getting faster at shaking them off!
Dogs are my best teachers, and my foster siblings have shown me how a dog is supposed to act. I absolutely need a helper dog in my new home to keep that going and I think kids 10 and up would be great fun!
What I need most are patient people who will help me feel comfy in my own head before we worry about the rest. Go slow with me and I will show you more devotion than you knew a dog could hold. Think you might be my person? Just ask for Lani!
