Dabao

Where she came from, Dabao is a nickname for a little dumpling. Petite and sweet, this young girl can be timid and shy at first, but her heart opens wide in the company of another dog. Provide a companion to show her the way and watch as she blossoms before your eyes.

Hi. My name is Dabao. I am a one-year-old girl, but people confuse me for a puppy. In part, because I am so small (35 lbs.), and in part, because I am still puppy-like. I came all the way from China for a second chance at life. I can’t tell you what things I saw or experienced, but they have left me shy and timid with people until I get to know them. I am hanging out with my foster family because they have one of my favorite things…dogs! I am the kind of girl who must have another dog friend to show me the way. When I do, I am transformed into a puppy-zooming playmate! And when they show me it’s OK, that’s when you and I will really start to build our bond. I have been working on some other things while in foster care, including house training (got that down!), using the doggy door (nailed it!), and crate training (not my favorite…but no problem). The crate is a good safe place to leave me when you have to go out, because I am still very much a puppy and will get into stuff if unsupervised. No stuffies, blankets, or pillows for me! And keep an eye on me with Nylabones. For a little girl, I have some pretty impressive chompers! I’m working on my leash skills, but walking is still a bit overwhelming for me. This is a whole new world, and it will take time. I don’t know about cats, but I think kids who are respectful of shy dogs would be good. With patience, love, and kindness I will gladly give you my heart.
