Cooper

This active boy loves his daily walks, a good game of fetch, and cooling off in the pool, then flips into total homebody mode the second playtime’s over. With stellar house manners and an easygoing streak, he’s hoping to find active people who also love a good couch cuddle. Meet the Lab who offers the best of both worlds!

  • Active three-year-old Lab who loves his daily walks, a good game of fetch, and pool time

  • Tagged high-energy at the kennel, but at foster he revealed his well-balanced self
  • Fully crate-trained and totally comfortable spending time solo

Hi there, I’m Cooper. Around the kennel, I was known as a high-energy guy, but honestly, that was kennel stress talking. Turns out a loud, unfamiliar place has a way of cranking up your feelings about everything. Homeward Bound sent me on a little field trip: a foster stay to see how I’d really do in a home. My foster family learned so much about me along the way, like how I’ve got a nice balance going: plenty of Lab in me when it’s time to play, and a total loyal homebody once the fun winds down.

I love my daily walks, and I’m pretty good at fetch, I’ll play for a solid five to ten minutes before I’m satisfied. Cooling off in the pool after a good outing is one of my favorite things in the world. But once we’re back inside, I settle right down. I picked my favorite spot within hours of arriving, a cushy bed in the day room, and that’s usually where you’ll find me. I do not counter surf, I’m crate-trained, I do not raid the cupboards, and I have never met a boundary I did not respect. My foster family says I have a Lab’s love of activity wrapped up in an old soul’s sense of calm.

I get along fine with other dogs. I barely blink when they’re nearby, and I completely ignore the deer that wander through my foster family’s yard, which they tell me is pretty impressive. I haven’t met a cat yet, so we’ll have to see how that goes. But I do know I love people, and I’m happy to soak up attention without needing to be the center of it.

I already know “sit,” and I’m working on “down,” “stay,” and “comel” I’m still figuring out how to hop in and out of a car on my own, so a boost never hurts. Really, all I need is a family that’s up for walks, fetch, and pool days, and just as happy to wind down with me on the couch after to watch Animal Planet. If that sounds like your kind of good boy, I’m ready when you are!

A Note from Cooper’s Foster:
Cooper is the 6 th dog that I have had the privilege of fostering, and I must say, he has definitely reset the bar for the dog that has provided the most rewarding experience as a foster. Overall, Cooper is a Super Good Boy, an amazingly loyal companion, a quick learner, and has been a complete joy to foster. He is one incredible dog and he is going to make a family super happy.
