Hi, I’m Cocoa. My road to Homeward Bound wasn’t the easiest. Once upon a time, I spent 10 hours a day sitting alone in a crate. But that chapter is closed, and I’m ready for a much better one.
I’m three years old, endlessly curious, and softer than I look underneath all that alert energy. Once you’ve earned my trust, I’ll lean my whole body into you for a hug and wag like there’s no tomorrow. I’m a pretty sharp guy too. Ask me to sit, shake, or drop it, and I’ll show you!
I used to guard my toys pretty fiercely, but I’ve been working hard on that. These days I’m learning to trade a ball for a second one without a fuss, and I love carrying a rope toy on walks. My relationship with toys is still a work in progress, so I need adopters dedicated to continuing my work on that front. I’m calm and easy around other dogs, though I’m still a serious puller on leash, so bring your patience along with a bit of arm strength. I missed out on some important stuff while sitting in that crate. So I would do best in a home without kids while I work on rebuilding my confidence and focusing my energy.
What I really need is someone willing to meet me where I am and grow with me. There’s a lot of good boy in here, just waiting for the right person.
