Ceres
One person’s trash is another’s treasure. This people-loving young boy and lap dog will thrive in a calm environment – perhaps with a mentor dog, your loving care, and Homeward Bound’s support if needed.

Hello people. My name is Ceres…named for the place I was found abandoned (feel free to change it if you adopt me!). I am two years old and a puppy in a grown dog’s body. When the line formed for the good gene pool, I must have been absent. Turns out I have a heart murmur and a slightly leaky valve. With a daily, inexpensive pill and good care, I can live with these things for a very long time. I also inherited white spots in my eyes. It’s called corneal opacity, and while I can still see, my eyesight is a little wonky. Otherwise, I am a people-loving boy who just wants to go for long walks, climb in your lap, and soak up all the love you want to give me. Homeward Bound will stay by my side when it comes to any medical stuff involving my heart and eyesight – taking the worry off that, especially if you live within traveling distance to their vets.
While I am grateful to Homeward Bound for rescuing me, I am anxious to get to a quieter home and settle into a routine without so many yappy, trash-talking roommates! They can get me a little too excited sometimes, but once you get me alone, I settle in quickly. I have been to playgroup and decided that I am the gentle and dainty type. It’s hard for me to fully read the other dogs with my less-than-perfect eyesight. If you have an easy-going pup at home in search of a companion, I’m game to meet them! I think having my own guide dog and mentor would be a plus but not a requirement. I don’t know about cats, and we think that any kids should be those things they call teenagers. I heard they sleep late (more cuddle time!) and are less prone to running and screaming. All good with me! I have a start on my training and am highly treat-motivated, but there is more work to be done. I am willing to learn and promise to do my very best! If you can appreciate that inheriting top-of-the-line genes doesn’t determine what’s in our hearts, ask for Ceres. And don’t forget to change my name!
