Hi everyone! I’m Athena, a one-year-old Golden girl named for the goddess of wisdom, though I’ll admit I’m still working on that part. My mom looked everywhere for an apartment that would welcome a dog, and when she came up empty, she had to let me go. I’m told that’s how chapters turn, so here I am at Homeward Bound.
When I first arrived, the more loud-mouth dogs were too much for a girl like me. The nice people moved me to a cozier spot with two little buddies, and wouldn’t you know it, I bloomed. Turns out I’m a social butterfly in a Golden coat. I start out a little timid, but give me a few minutes and I’m leaning into your hand and wagging my whole back end. I have a serious thing for balls and toys. I’ll happily show you my whole collection, though I’m not always clear on the part where I bring them back. Show me how, and I’m in. I walk nicely on leash, I know how to sit, and I’m eager to learn the rest.
Dogs are my favorite playmates, and I’ll bark a happy hello to any that pass by. I lived with a cat once and we got along by minding our own business. Kids ages 7 and up sound like great pals to me.
I’m young, I’ve got energy, and I’m looking for people who like a good walk or two every day and don’t mind a bit of homework. Be patient with my shy moments, and I’ll repay you in snuggles and wiggles for life. Come find me and bring a ball!
