Lucky

Lucky is a big, happy goofball whose family ran short on time, and he is ready to make the most of someone else’s. With his tail on permanent wag and his education still on the to-do list, he will thrive with active people who see a lesson in every walk and a reward in every snack.

  • Big, happy two-year-old Golden boy with a tail that never clocks out
  • Greets life with a grin; adores being petted, brushed, and fussed over
  • Untrained but game; snacks are his love language; and he picks up manners quickly with a patient coach
  • Okay with most dogs; Cats Unknown; Kids 10+ OK
  • Needs active people who will get him out on adventures and happily teach him the ropes

Hi everyone! I’m Lucky, a two-year-old, 68-pound ray of Golden sunshine. My first people ran out of hours in the day, which I totally get, because I have trouble fitting everything in too. (Chasing things, snacks, naps, walks, more snacks.) I’m hoping my next family has a calendar with room for me.

I’ll be honest: I’m excellent at being happy and a work in progress at pretty much everything else. I know how to walk on leash, but nobody ever taught me sit, down, or the fine art of ‘leave it,’ so mostly I make it up as I go and hope there’s a treat at the end. There usually is, which is why I’ve become such a believer. Wave a snack and I’ll come running, grin first. Pet me anywhere (and I do mean anywhere) and my tail takes it as a standing ovation. I treat brushing as a compliment, I stroll on leash like I own the sidewalk, and I figure a kiddie pool is just a small ocean. I’m learning that ‘gentle’ applies to snacks too. And fetch? I love the chase and I love the ball, but the whole ‘bring it back’ concept hasn’t clicked yet. It’s on the syllabus.

Other dogs are fine by me, though I’m usually too busy having a great day to bother with them, even the barky ones. I haven’t met a cat yet, so the jury is still out. And kids ages 10 and up sound like exactly my kind of crowd.

What I need is people who like to get out and do things at least twice a day, and who don’t mind being my first teachers. Reward me when I get it right, be patient when I don’t, and I promise to be the happiest student you’ve ever had. Class is in session whenever you’re ready.
