Hi everyone! I’m Star, a five-year-old Golden girl, and I fully intend to live up to my name. My story includes a social media giveaway listing, which can have quite scary outcomes. A kind soul rescued me and my sister, and we landed at Homeward Bound together. She’s the independent, outgoing one who is ready to chart her own path. I’m the gentler one who really needs another dog companion to guide me.
Fair warning: I come in low and wiggly when I meet someone new, because I like to read the room first. Give me a happy voice and a little celebration and I’m all yours. I’m a shadow at heart, so expect a nose on your hand and a paw on your leg whenever I’d like some attention, which is often. Lap snuggles are my specialty, and I’ll fold myself into whatever space you’ve got. Don’t mistake me for clingy, though. Once I’ve settled in, I’m a curious explorer who will happily go sniff out a new place on my own.
My treasure is my stuffed animal collection. When I realize a plushie is mine, I may let out a few emotional squeaks of joy. I never guard them, but I’m very committed, so the best way to get one back is a treat trade. Any kids in my family will need to learn that a dog’s stuffie is a dog’s stuffie.
Dogs look like potential playdates to me, and I get along with most as long as they are not too pushy. A canine pal at home would help me feel braver, because my confidence grows when I’ve got a buddy nearby. The one cat I met barely earned a glance, so I suspect we’d be fine. Gentle kids 10+ are great company.
I know Sit and I’m hungry to learn more. Leash walking is new and a little weird for me (so you’re attached to the other end?), but with treats and a few friendly directions like ‘we’re turning here,’ I catch on fast. I’ll need a daily walk or two and a person who keeps me in the loop. Could that be you? Come say hello, and I’ll bring a stuffie!
