Hi everyone! I’m Pauley, a one-year-old Golden who has changed addresses a lot for someone so young. I started out with a breeder, spent some time at a shelter in Tulare, and now I’m at Homeward Bound, where everyone keeps telling me my best days are ahead. I weigh in at 59 pounds, with a little more puppy left in me than my size lets on.
Fair warning: I’m timid when we first meet, so I might hang back and watch you for a while. Give me a few minutes, though, and I’ll be flopping onto my back for belly rubs or climbing into your lap like I’ve always had a reservation. Attention is the best thing in the world, and I lean into every pat like I’m trying to get closer to your heart.
I like other dogs, but I’m more of a gentle player, so I’d do best with a pal who has patience for a shy guy. Since I’m still a puppy in a lot of ways, kids 13 and up would suit me best.
School is just getting started for me. I know sit, and I’m happy to learn the rest. Walks are new, so I might lag behind and need a little cheering on, and car rides look like a very large, very scary box for now. A daily stroll will keep me happy, and a calm teacher will keep me brave. If you’ve got the time to show me how it’s done, come say hi, and I’ll save a spot on your lap.
