Buster
At ten, Buster still thinks he’s a puppy. He lives life full speed ahead with leash manners still a work in progress. This car-ride-loving, stuffie-hoarding senior has serious size and even bigger enthusiasm. He just needs a confident handler to help him put it all together.

Hi, I’m Buster! I’m a ten-year-old golden guy, and no, nobody told me I’m supposed to act my age. My family took in some elderly relatives recently, and between my size and my enthusiasm, I got a little too excited around them. I’m told an eager 70-pound golden and unsteady knees don’t mix well, and after a close call, my family decided I needed a home built just for me.
Here’s the thing about me: I’ve got some serious size on me, and I genuinely don’t know my own power half the time. I already know Sit, Down, Stay, and Down-Stay, so the smarts are there. But if something catches my eye out on a walk, I can get a little hard-headed and forget I’m supposed to be listening. I promise I’m not trying to be difficult; I just get excited and lose the plot on execution. With the right person showing me the ropes, I know I can get there. In the meantime, I’ll happily settle for car rides (I LOVE them) and hoarding stuffed toys like they’re going out of style.
I get along well with most other dogs. I recently met a couple of new friends and gave them a polite sniff, though if I’m honest, I was a lot more interested in the little critters in the yard. Cats are definitely not my thing, so I’m a no-cat household kind of guy. As for kids, my people think it’s safest if my next family has older kids, around 13 and up, given my size and strength, even though I’ve done just fine with much younger ones before. I’m an affectionate, happy boy through and through. There’s nothing shy or submissive about me. I like to think my motto is loud and proud.
What I need is someone active, patient, and willing to put in the work on my leash skills, someone who looks past the muscle and sees a good heart that’s still finding its way. I’ve got a lot of good years and a lot of love left in me. If you’re ready for a golden who tries his heart out, even when he gets a little lost along the way, I’d love to be your new best friend.
