Payton has already cracked the code: people equal treats equals love, and she intends to collect on all three. She’s the bolder half of a sister duo, always the first to trot over and introduce herself…sometimes face to face! Payton will fully blossom with patience, training and love.

Hi, I’m Payton! I’m a seven-month-old girl who showed up as a stray in Bakersfield with my mom, my sister Paige, and a handful of other siblings. My mom is a Great Pyrenees, and my dad is anyone’s guess. I might be golden at heart just like my sister, but between the two of us, I’m the one is always first to say ‘hello!’

I figured out early that people equal treats equals love, and I have zero interest in being ignored. If I feel like I’m not getting enough attention, I’ve been known to hop right up onto a picnic table to remind everyone I’m here. I know Sit and Down, I just like to take my time with the execution. I do get a little too excited when treats are involved and can get a bit nippy in the moment, but the rest of the time I’ve got a nice soft mouth. Walking on a leash is still new to me, and I can get underfoot while I figure it all out, but I’m easy to guide and I’m learning fast.

I get along well with other dogs, especially calm, gentle ones, and I do best with slow, easy introductions before jumping into a big group. I think kids would be great, and I haven’t met a cat yet, so that one’s still a mystery. Growing up right alongside my sister, I’m used to having another dog nearby, and I do just fine with that.

What I need is an active family who can keep up with me and help me catch up on the training I missed early on, plus a secure yard, since too much time alone out there leads to trouble!  I’ve got a big personality and even bigger love to give. If you want a golden-at-heart girl who’ll make sure you never forget she’s in the room, I think we’d hit it off.
