I’m Jackson, a four-year-old yellow Lab, and here’s the honest truth: my human dad adored me. Life just handed him some lemons and a home he couldn’t keep, and that’s how I ended up here, no fault of my own or his. I’d love the chance to be somebody’s good boy again, and I know it would bring him much peace of mind.
Ask anyone who’s met me and they’ll tell you, I wag first and ask questions later. I lean hard into a good ear scratch, and I’m rarely more than a few feet from a tennis ball. Toss it for me and I’ll actually take a little victory lap before trotting it back. I like to make an entrance. Water is my other love, hand me a pool and I’m the happiest Lab around.
Other dogs don’t faze me one bit; I lived with three others. I’ll happily share a yard and keep things low-key. I’m not a rebel rouser. Cats are supposedly fine by me too, according to the people who knew me best. Sturdy kids are welcome in my world; the more hands to pet me, the better. What I really want is a household with some hustle to it, active walks, plenty of company, and someone who’s home more often than not.
A couple of quirks worth knowing: I pull a bit on leash (a harness keeps us both happy), and I get a little too excited when treats are involved, so a flat, open palm works best. None of that should scare you off. I’m easygoing, easy to train, and eager to please. I’m ready for my next family to love me just as much as my dad did.
