Here’s my story: I’m a six-year-old girl who took one look at a Golden Retriever and decided that was exactly the kind of dog I wanted to be. Never mind that my own family tree only goes part of the way there, I marched myself right up to a local shelter and made sure I landed at a Golden Retriever rescue anyway. That’s the kind of determination you’re working with here.

I am, if I do say so myself, quite the charmer. Give me two minutes with a new person and I’ll have them wrapped around my paw. I already know Sit, Shake, Fetch, and Touch, and I pick up new tricks quickly, my brain likes having a job to do. Toys are my whole heart though, I carry them everywhere and they make me feel safe.

I’m what you’d call dog-selective. I like doing things my own way and I’m still practicing my manners when other dogs are around, so I’m best as the only pup in the house. Cats are still a bit of a mystery to me. As for kids, I think older ones who won’t steal my toys would understand me best.

I’ve settled in a lot since I arrived, nervous and looking for every exit, but I still do best with a secure yard and people who stay one step ahead of me until I have fully adopted my new home. I’d love a family with the energy to match mine, active walks, playtime, and a little training time so we can build the kind of trust that lasts. I’ve got a lot of heart and a lot of smarts, I just need someone willing to invest in both.
