Hi! I’m Leia, a seven-year-old girl who lost my home through no fault of my own. It was a bit of a surprise, but I haven’t let it dampen my spirits. I came in with my sister Summer, and while I’ll miss her, I do just fine on my own. The good people at Homeward Bound tell me it’s my time to find a new home, and I am very much ready.

Here’s what you should know about me: I love people, and I’m not shy about it. I greet new folks like old friends, confident and happy, tail going the whole time. I know my commands (Sit, Down, Stay, Give Paw) and I love showing them off. I have a very soft mouth when it comes to treats, even when I’m excited. I’m easy to brush, easy to handle, and generally just an easy girl to be around.

It’s probably worth mentioning…I have strong opinions about stuffed toys. I will take them apart quickly and efficiently. I don’t eat the insides, but I do make short work of the outside. A home without a lot of unsupervised plushies is probably my best fit. As for other dogs, I’m accepting of other nice dogs like me. I have an intense interest in small critters – so let’s strike cats from my list of companions. Kids though? I think they’d be great.

My one work in progress is leash manners. When I pick a direction, I like to commit to it. You may have other ideas! But I’m food motivated and I’ve already shown that with a harness and consistent cues, I settle in and start to improve. I just need someone patient enough to stick with me. In return, you get a calm, confident, people-loving companion ready to settle into a home and make it hers. Is that home yours?
