Hi, I’m Thomas Winston. I’m going to level with you from the start: I am still figuring out the rules. I am one- year-old and I know sit, down, and stay. I’m housebroken, and I sleep in my crate without complaint. But somewhere along the way, I also decided that socks, remotes, and anything left on the counter were probably also mine. I’m working on it! I just need people who keep a tidy house and yard and are patient enough to guide me while I get my head around the concept of “not yours.”
Here is what I can tell you for certain: nobody loves people the way I do. I am a leaner, a tail-wagger, a “wherever you are is where I want to be” kind of dog. I know some basic commands, I take treats with a pretty soft mouth, I like to swim, and I settle in just fine once I’m in the car. (Getting in is its own conversation, but we’ll get there.) I’ve got stuffies I’d love to introduce to you, and I’ll happily trade one for another if you’ve got something interesting. The tricky part is I shouldn’t be left alone with anything I could destroy. Supervised toy time only, for now.
Other dogs and I get along just great. Big, small, doesn’t matter much to me. I lived with cats and only chased two out of five. (What do you want from me?!) And kids? Most kids and I would have a lot of fun together, as long as they’re not too little. I’m a big boy at 75 pounds, and I have a lot of energy to burn, so older kids who can keep pace and pick up their stuff are best for me. Leash walks are going pretty well with my harness, though I’m still learning to keep all four feet pointed in the same direction.
What I really need is a home that’s in it with me. People who will walk me, train me, keep me busy, and not leave me bored and unsupervised with a TV remote. Around here, they call it structure, clear expectations, and supervision! The folks at Homeward Bound say I have a good disposition and real potential, and I believe them. Put me in the right situation, and I will absolutely rise to meet it. Is your home that situation? I’d love to find out.
