Hi, I’m Jax! I have a bit of a funny origin story. I was purchased right before COVID with a very important job lined up: I was going to be a therapy dog! My person was a therapist, and I was going to be right there in the office, lending comfort and calm to everyone who walked through the door. Then, the world went sideways, therapy moved online, and my career was quietly shelved. Now I’m five years young, the pandemic is ancient history, and it’s time to find the home I was always meant to have.
I’m a people-loving, affectionate boy who will absolutely sit beside you and let you pet me for hours…that part I was always built for. Fair warning: flip me over for a tummy rub and I will treat you to the most contented little grumbles you’ve ever heard. I already know sit, down, and stay. I will admit that I have some work to do on leash because I can still pull, but I promise there’s a great walking partner around once we sort that out. I’ve got high play energy, and I am very enthusiastic about the game of fetch. The chasing part is completely dialed in. The bringing-it-back part is… well…coming along!
I play well with other dogs. I’m friendly, bouncy, and happy to make friends. I don’t know much about cats, so I’d want an introduction before we commit to anything. As for kids, I’m genuinely fond of people of all sizes, but I should mention that when I get overly excited I have been known to run right through the smaller ones. Purely enthusiastic – never mean about it! Sturdy, older kids would be swell.
I’m looking for active people who can supply the life I was meant to have: daily exercise, training time to brush up my skills, and a whole lot of companionship. I have a lot of love to give…I just need someone ready to receive it.
