Buddy

Buddy is a great boy with a not-so-great attitude about small creatures. Good in the home and with older kids, he is search of a good, kind, and sturdy leader who understands re-direction to ensure everyone’s happily-ever-after!

  • People-loving, affectionate, and active boy
  • Has lived in a home and with children
  • Crate-trained and has a few commands but forgets them when small creatures are present
  • Dog selective; NO SMALL DOGS or CATS; Kids 13+ OK
  • Seeks a kind and capable leader to redirect his prey drive and keep all safe

Hey people, I’m Buddy! At six years old, I find myself in search of a new home. Why? My people wanted a dog they could take everywhere, and I am not that dog! I’m a good boy who has lived in a home, knows some basic commands, and am super people-loving and affectionate. So what gives? I have this thing called “prey drive.” I don’t like smaller, weaker critters in my space or face, and while I have never hurt one, I am certainly not friendly to them! This includes cats, small dogs, and even the turkeys that roam Homeward Bound! (Who invited them, anyway!) I walk pretty well on leash until I see one of these small creatures…and then, I need a strong, confident person to guide me. Funny thing is, I did live with a dog. But IF I had a dog companion, it would need to be the kind that is not in my face a lot, and definitely my size or bigger. At home, I was outside all day and in a crate at night. I have heard that there are families where the dog is a full-fledged member of the family. I think I would like that very much. I may be happiest as an only dog, or, we can discuss one of those chill dogs like my former sibling. Mostly, I need a good, kind, and sturdy leader capable of managing my one flaw. In return, I promise to give you my heart and my forever companionship. Deal?
