You know those videos that show a flower opening in slow-motion? That’s me! But not too slow! My name is Bailey, and I am two and a half years old. It appears that something was missed in my early puppyhood…they call it ‘socialization.’ I lived a pretty sheltered life with another dog and my family but didn’t have much exposure to the bigger world until nervousness about it had already set in. I bonded very tightly with my mom, but not my dad, and was easily startled and anxious about  sudden changes. The nice people at Homeward Bound immediately saw what I needed and shipped me off to a foster home where I am quickly progressing and finding my confidence. I live with two humans (a man and a woman) and their super-fun dog. The dog has been very helpful in showing me the way, and yes…I quickly became the shadow of the woman in the house, resting by her feet when she works, and following her everywhere. The man is gentle and understanding, and I am coming around to him, too. I have excellent house manners, love going on walks, and enjoy play and the companionship of my foster brother. What I need is someone like my foster family: people with  good dog skills, patience, a predictable routine, and a safe circle for me while gently introducing me to new people and experiences. Just think of me as a garden flower. Plant me in the right place with plenty of sunshine and warmth…and watch me blossom!
