Muffin

Forever a puppy, one-year-old Muffin may have a partially developed cerebellum but she has a fully developed heart! Adorable, sweet, and easy to manage, this volunteer favorite will win your heart in an instant!

  • Adorable and loving; at one year of age, forever a puppy
  • Born with Cerebellar hypoplasia: the cerebellum fails to develop fully. In her case, resulting in an awkward gait and puppy-like personality
  • A volunteer favorite; people-loving and very sweet
  • Accepting of other nice dogs; Cats Unknown; Kids 7+ OK
  • Easy to manage, and keeps a clean kennel, but condition will make training more difficult

Hi everyone…I am one-year-old Muffin! My original mom got me as a puppy then left the country and deposited me at her sister’s home. She was kind enough to let me live there for almost a year with kids and dogs including my best friend, Batman – another Golden. My adopted mom’s friend was a vet and noticed something different about me. But money was tight; it wasn’t until I came to Homeward Bound that a neurological review determined that I was born with Cerebellar hypoplasia: my cerebellum failed to fully develop. Don’t call me special needs: call me extra special! You’ll see it in my funny gait and sometimes, in my forgetfulness. For me, every day is a happy, joy-filled Groundhog Day as I experience the world as if it was the first time. Despite my “condition,” I can appear and act quite normal (for a one year old!). I keep a clean room, enjoy the company of other nice dogs, and am about the sweetest, most cuddly girl you ever met. I’m crate-trained, good in the car, and well-mannered. Around here, they just say that I am forever a puppy…and that must be a good thing, because everyone loves me! They promised that they would help me find someone to love me…forever. Is that you?
